Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior official commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
